Midwest Electric was founded in 1981, when Garry Hurless, a second-generation electrician, launched a new type of electrical contracting company to serve businesses in central and southern Ohio. The company initially focused on industrial customers, delivering unsurpassed levels of quality, safety and innovation.

A new leadership team joined the company in 2002. At the top of the priority list are expansion into new geographical areas and new business sectors; growth in existing markets; and the addition of utility distribution and transmission services.
